One killed as IGIMS boundary wall caves in

PATNA: A bamboo seller, Bhola, died on the spot when a newly constructed boundary wall situated on the eastern side of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) here collapsed on Thursday morning.

Police said that the boundary wall, which was constructed a year ago, caved in due to waterlogging at the site. Sources said that some other people present there had a miraculous escape.

The Shastrinagar police have registered a case of unnatural death in this connection on the basis of statement given by the victim’s acquaintances.

IGIMS director Dr Arun Kumar said that the boundary wall was constructed 10 feet away from the nearby government land after locals protested its construction earlier. He said that the incident occurred on the land falling between the road and the boundary wall on which bamboos were being sold.

Kumar said that as the level of the boundary wall was lower than the nearby drain, water had started accumulating there resulting in its collapse.
