Bihar to be developed state by 2015: CM

PATNA: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that Bihar will join the ranks of developed states by 2015. He was addressing a public meeting at Parmanandpur village under Katrisarai block in Nalanda district in course of his Vishwas Yatra.

Nitish recounted his government’s achievements and said that during the last four and a half years, 619 bridges
have been built while the condition of state highways improved considerably making it better than national highways.
He inaugurated a bridge over Sakri river built at a cost of Rs 29.91 crore and another on Panchane river which costs Rs 19.73 crore.

“We not only make concrete bridges, but also the bridges of faith and trust. Now Bihar is being discussed around the world for its development, peace and prosperity and nobody even mentions about the crime and kidnapping,” Nitish said.

He said that the local people have been demanding bridges on Sakri and Panchane river for over 15 years and the previous government made promises repeatedly, but did nothing.

“Our government completed these bridges in just 36 months to fulfill the aspirations of the people,” he said and added that in Nalanda district alone 146 bridges have been constructed.

The CM said that people are now more concerned about development and if this atmosphere of peace, love, social and communal harmony continues no force can disturb the state’s progress.

Others who addressed the meeting included revenue minister Narendra Narayan Yadav, JD(U)’s chief whip Shrawan Kumar, MP Kaushlendra Kumar and all the MLAs of the district, besides local leaders of the JD(U) and BJP.

A battery of top bureaucrats, including chief secretary Anup Mukherjee, principal health secretary C K Mishra, agriculture development commissioner A K Sinha, Pul Nirman Nigam chairman Atish Chandra, Patna commissioner Sunil Barthwal and others were also present
